10 Bible Verses about God's Love

We are called to love others, but inorder to do that we have to understand and tap into God’s love for us. His love is sacrificial, powerful, life changing and unlike any human love we’ve experienced. We have an intire book written over the course of human existence that tells us all about this great love story. Here’s just a few specific Bible verses to meditate on from the New Testament about God’s love.


10 Verses with "Agape" (Love) in the New Testament

  1. John 3:16 — "For God so loved (ēgapēsen) the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

  2. Romans 5:8 — "But God demonstrates his own love (agapēn) for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

  3. Romans 8:39 — "Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love (agapēs) of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

  9. 1 John 4:8 — "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love (agapē)."

  10. 1 John 4:16 — "And so we know and rely on the love (agapēn) God has for us. God is love (agapē). Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them."
